Dear PSL Family,
As we come to the end of 2023, we take this time to reflect on the past year. We think of the many happy times we have shared with others, as well as those times where we needed or gave comfort.
As I write, I am reminded of a quote from Charles Dickens, “Reflect upon your present blessings of which everyone has many – not on your past misfortunes, of which we all have some.” With that in mind and whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, or another annual celebration, please take the opportunity to count your blessings, rekindle old relationships, indulge in tasty cuisine, and spend time with those closest in your lives.
This year the Davis family will again celebrate Christmas with a family that spans four generations, with another grandchild on the way! We will gather and attend church services acknowledging the importance of our faith and belief in an all-loving God, we will cook the ham and all the side dishes, eat until we are way past full, and watch the joy on each other’s faces as we rip the wrapping paper from our gifts.
As I look forward to the coming year, I am grateful for the many blessings within my life, including the great satisfaction I derive from serving within an organization that is committed to making the lives of others better. I have the privilege of working with 2,700 other people who serve over 6,000 older adults and are dedicated to building a culture of aspirational aging creating opportunities for individuals to live a joyful life.
One of the greatest joys for me personally is that Presbyterian Senior Living is dedicated to serving individuals across the economic spectrum. PSL has historically served individuals with lower incomes. One of the ways we continue that ministry today, is through the provision of affordable housing and services. This year we will take another giant step forward with the creation of The PSL Affordable Housing Foundation dedicated to the construction and maintenance of affordable housing for older adults. Through this effort we will be able to continue to expand the opportunities for older adults to have a beautiful home to celebrate the holidays!
May this season allow you to experience joy that strengthens your faith and brings you closer to the ones you love.
In your service,
Dan Davis
President and Chief Executive Officer
