Caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia can be a long and emotional journey. According to the Alzheimer's Association, more than 5 million Americans are living with the disease. This number is reported to increase rapidly in the coming years.

Are you age 65 and older? If so, you are at greater risk of developing serious complications if you contract the flu virus. On average, 5 to 20 percent of the U.S. population comes down with the flu each year and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu related complications. The flu can cause serious illness and in some cases lead to death if gone untreated. Make sure you are taking the right precautions to protect yourself this flu season and know what signs to watch out for.

Are you planning a visit home for the holidays? If you're an adult child of an aging parent, the holidays may be the only time of the year you get to check up on dear mom and dad—particularly if you live out of town. According to a 2021 survey by the AARP, it's reported that 77% of adults, 50 and older, live home alone by choice. For this reason, it's important for adult children to watch for warning signs in and around the house when home for the holidays.
