Recognizing excellence in dementia care by direct care professionals in the healthcare field. The Julie H.C. Bailey PRIDE award is given annually to one worthy recipient in each of the states the Delaware Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association serves: Delaware, Southern New Jersey, and Southeastern Pennsylvania. This prestigious award is presented to the winners at one of the annual Alzheimer’s Association annual conferences to highlight and celebrate their extraordinary examples of excellence in dementia care.

Talk to any leader and you will hear a story of how they started in their first position, and when they realized that they were being led to a position of leadership. As senior care providers begin to focus more on person-centered care, it becomes evident the language we are accustomed to using needs a bit of refining. At the core of person-centered care, you’ll find the word respect. What is respect? It’s defined as the willingness to show consideration or appreciation for someone or something. The language we use is a key indicator of the amount of respect we have for others.

Recently, six Presbyterian Senior Living communities were ranked at the top of the U.S. News & World Report list of Best Nursing Homes 2015. Best Nursing Homes provides information on care, safety, health inspections, staffing, and operations for approximately all nursing homes and retirement communities located throughout the United States. Data is obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Nursing homes too new or those with little data available may not appear in the list.

Kirkland Village, a Presbyterian Senior Living Community located in Bethlehem, PA, was again recognized for being one of the top workplaces in the Lehigh Valley. The Morning Call, the third largest newspaper in Pennsylvania, administers the Top Workplace Survey.
