Dear PSL Residents and Families,
Since late December 2020, residents and staff have been given the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The residents of PSL overwhelmingly accepted the vaccine and as a result COVID-19 cases among the resident population has dropped significantly. In the rare case a resident does contract the virus, they are typically asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and deaths have been nearly eradicated.
Since vaccine clinics concluded, we have found nearly all COVID positive cases have stemmed from an unvaccinated staff member. This causes our communities to continue to be closed to health center, assisted living, and personal care visitation. We recognize the emotional and physical impact that this has had on residents and their families. The only way we will be able to consistently welcome loved ones back to our communities is to ensure we have each done our part to combat this deadly virus.
Community and corporate leadership have encouraged and counseled many on the benefits of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. We have listened and heard the voices of others who are clearly calling for our staff and resident population to be vaccinated so they may once again hold the hand of those they love.
In order to meet the need of the residents and their families Presbyterian Senior Living has elected to require all staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment. Our goal is to have this accomplished no later than August 31st.
Sincerely,
James F. Bernardo
